Digital Nomad Visa
Work remotely from Italy while maintaining your international career. The DNV allows digital professionals to live in Italy without local employment.
What Is the Digital Nomad Visa?
Italy's Digital Nomad Visa is designed for remote workers, freelancers, and online professionals who earn their income from non-Italian companies or clients. If your job can be done from a laptop anywhere in the world, this visa gives you the right to live in Italy while keeping your foreign income.
Unlike the Elective Residency Visa, the DNV explicitly permits work, but only if your employer or clients are outside Italy. You cannot work for Italian companies, take Italian clients, or generate income from Italian sources while on this visa.
The visa is issued for one year, renewable annually, and can lead to long-term residency after five years. It's ideal for location-independent professionals who want the Italian lifestyle without putting their careers on pause.

These requirements reflect the general national framework for the DNV, but each consulate may request additional documents or proof. Always verify with your local consulate — Italy loves rules, and then exceptions to those rules.
