DAYS 1-8 Arrival & Immigration Filing

You're not searching for housing — you're executing paperwork. Your rental contract was secured before arrival.

Important context: You arrive with your housing already solved. Your 12-month rental contract was included in your visa packet. This is a pre-move requirement, so Days 1-8 are about executing immigration paperwork, not scrambling for accommodation.

File permesso di soggiorno

Kit giallo must be filed within 8 days of arrival.

Get Codice Fiscale

Your tax ID. Required for everything.

Register lease contract

If not yet registered, do this immediately.

Get Italian phone plan

WEEKS 2-4 Residency Registration

Since you have housing from Day 1, you can register residency quickly at Anagrafe.

Residency unlocks SSN enrollment and all future administrative steps. The vigile (municipal police officer) will visit your home to verify you actually live there.
